Desktop icons are free advertising for folder names, screenshots, and client work. Hide them before any display capture session.
Windows
Right-click the desktop → View → uncheck Show desktop icons.
Mac
Use a clean Space for streaming, or hide icons before you go live — then verify in OBS preview that nothing sensitive remains on the desktop.
Better than hiding
Icons are only half the problem. Close the apps behind them — see clean desktop before going live.
