The capture type you pick decides what viewers see when you alt-tab. Display capture is convenient and leaky. Window and game capture are stricter — and safer for Discord.
Display capture
Shows the whole monitor: taskbar, notifications, Discord, email, file names. Any Alt-Tab is content. See what shows on stream if you alt-tab.
Window / game capture
Pins the source to one app. Alt-Tabbing away usually freezes or blanks that source instead of exposing your desktop — still close secrets first.
Practical setup
- Use game or window capture for the title you are streaming.
- Keep display capture only for desktop scenes you intentionally show.
- Disable Discord overlay and clear background apps before go-live.
